This guide will show you how to replace the oil in a Briggs and Stratton 675 Series mower. Oil is an invaluable component to any internal combustion engine. It keeps the components lubricated and moving freely. Without clean oil, your engine can experience many mechanical problems that will keep you from getting the job done. For this guide, make sure you have a container to catch the oil and plenty of rags to clean up spills. Make sure to change your oil over a surface that is easy to clean.

Wipe any oil off the tip of the stick and reinsert it into the mower. Make sure to tighten the cap down when doing so.
-
Remove the cap and stick once again and note the height of the oil left on the bottom of the stick.
-
If the oil is in between the two small holes, looks clean, and you haven't experienced any mechanical difficulties, your mower's oil is in good shape and does not need replacement.

Check to make sure there is no fuel in the tank before removing the oil.
-
To remove the oil, tilt the mower on its side and pour the old oil into a proper container.
-
Alternatively, you can use a siphon/pump down the opening to remove the oil.
-
-
-
Once all the oil is drained from your mower, tilt everything right-side-up and refill the engine with oil by pouring directly into the hole.
-
Insert the cap back onto the hole and tighten to close.

What is the oil capacity of this engine, and what grade of oil is recommended ?
Thus engine is on a 22 ton log splitter and there is no way of tipping engine over to change oil.
