The motherboard of the Canon Powershot Pro1 plays a crucial role in its overall function because it contains a large percentage of the camera’s circuitry. Damage to the motherboard makes the camera nearly useless and results in a variety of issues. This guide can help you replace your damaged motherboard with a new, functional one. Be careful when removing the ribbon cables and connectors. Also, be sure to place the connectors into their designated position.

Locate the battery compartment cover on the right hand side of the camera. The cover features the text: “CF/BATT.OPEN”.

There is an arrow beside the text. Using your hands, slide the cover in the direction of this arrow.

Pull the cover toward you. After doing so you will see the battery sitting inside the compartment.

Open the screen so that you have access to the underside of the camera.

Using the phillips #000 screwdriver: Remove the two 1.00 mm Phillips #0 screws under the viewfinder, the one screw in the battery compartment, and five screws on the bottom of the camera, and the single screw on the left side of the camera (opposite the battery compartment).

Lift the inside cover off to reveal the motherboard. To completely detach the cover from the motherboard, you must detach the bottom right ribbon cable.

Lift up the gold insulation cover to reveal the motherboard. To remove, you must use the tweezers and spudger or opening tool to detach from the wire connectors and ribbon cables (respectively).

Once detached from the connectors and ribbon cables, you can fully remove the motherboard.
