Using pliers, remove the old cork by pinching it off.
Make sure not to push too hard with the pliers, as you can crack or chip the structure.

Clean the joint with soap and water

Measure the width of the tenon joint.
Only measure the area where the cork will lie, not the entire joint.

Cut the new cork to match the width of the tenon joint.
