This guide explains the replacement of the LED display for the Health o Meter HDR743 digital bathroom scale. The LED display shows the weight in lbs. in red numbers with a capacity of 350lbs. If the red numbers are not visible, clear, or crisp, then the LED display may need to be replaced.

Open front cover of scale.
Examine the edges of the LED display to see if there are broken or missing solder connections with the circuit board.
If there are broken solder connections, re-solder the existing display to the board and skip the remaining steps. Otherwise, the LED display needs to be replaced to correct display issues, so proceed with the remaining steps.

Use a soldering iron to separate each of the connections between the circuit board and LED display. Once all of the connections are removed, pull away the broken LED display from the circuit board.
Remove unnecessary solder from the old connections so that each connection is separate. Leave a small amount of solder on the board to help make new connections.

Solder several connections between the new LED display and the circuit board.
Do not let any of the connections touch each other or the display will not function correctly.

To reassemble, securely replace the cover of the scale.
Test the LED display by stepping on the scale. If there are still errors in the display, check your connections and repeat soldering steps if needed.
