Before beginning this process, you will need a paper towel or cloth and tuning slide grease. This guide will teach you how to easily fix a stuck trombone tuning slide on your own without having to get a professional to do it. In order to keep your trombone in top shape, its tuning slides must be able to move easily.

-
Carefully remove the slides from the trombone.
-
If the slides are completely stuck, wiggle the slides from side to side while pulling it out of the trombone.
-
-
-
Clean each slide using a paper towel or cloth.
-
This will remove any friction the slides may have with the trombone.
-
-
-
Check to see if the tuning slides are parallel with their corresponding parts.
-
This can be done simply by aligning the slides against the trombone.
-
-
-
-
If the slides are parallel, skip to step six. If not, attach each individual slide to the trombone and push/pull in the direction in which it would be parallel.
-
This will straighten the warped slides back into place.
-
Warped slides can be very difficult to move when attached to the trombone.
-
-
-
Check to see if the slides are align once more.
-
Keep repeating step 4 if the slides are not lined up yet.
-
-
-
Apply tuning slide grease to each slide.
-
Make sure each slide only gets a thin layer of grease. Too much grease could cause friction when attached to the trombone.
-
-
-
Attach the slides back to the trombone.
-
Position the slides to your liking and enjoy playing!
