Use this guide to pick up a dropped stitch in your knitting project. A dropped stitch can begin to unravel a person’s progress and even unravel the finished product. Dropped stitches occur when a live stitch slips off of the working needle and starts to unravel. A sweater or pair of socks that comes unraveled is of little use and is likely to end up in a landfill.
You will first pick up the dropped stitch using the left needle. Then you will use the right needle to lift the dropped stitch over the bar of yarn for each row that the stitch has dropped.

Insert the right needle beneath the bottom bar of yarn and lift it onto the left needle.

Once the dropped stitch has been picked up all the way to the current row, proceed in pattern.
