Hi. I have that problem and took the screws out but it wont lift off. I managed to get the spray on spindle but had to use multi grip spanner to get spindle to move. What do i need tovdo to get it out properly?

Hi Margret, Here are the instructions I posted in the main page which I think you may have missed. Certainly no multi grip spanner (?) is required.

“I removed the four screws from underneath (make sure the bucket is empty first) There are about five parts (plastic) and a chromed metal coil spring. The spinner shaft was oily and rusty. I wiped clean and polished up the metal shaft with kitchen scourer and wipe clean. Apply a little oil (grease if you have it to hand). The small gear wheel popped out, (apply a little force) to the supporting cross bar and out it comes. Clean, soap and water, dry and again apply oil or grease and carefully replace. The main parts are quite tough and should last if used properly. Refit base / pedal unit and secure four screws”.

The principal operation of the spinner works by using a one way bearing in the small gear with the shaft. Water and metal do not get on with each other and will seize over time. Hence the grease (water replant) in the bearing. The shaft will only turn freely in one direction and “grip” and turn the spinner in the other direction. If seized then a soak with WD40 or similar with free it up a bit but as mentioned in the main article by another the gear is replaceable.

    Hi,

My bucket has been playing up most recently and I was ready to get rid of it and buy a new one until I found this post! I’m a paramedic student living on my own and this has saved me a good few pretty pennies! It worked! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hi just saw this post before going out to get new one. My husband followed your instructions but we didn't have any oil so used washing up liquid and it worked thank you so much for your post saved us running out to get new one plus saved a lot of money. You are a ?

Thank you for your comment Treena53. Any oil will do, cooking oil you can use. Wash out the washing up liquid with water and use WD40 or “oil”.

Mind you if WUL works great.

Last time this happened, I found a helpful guide to remedy the fault which involved taking the assembly apart and oiling, but thanks to your tip, I was able to resolve the problem just with a couple of sprays of WD-40. So much quicker and just as effective. More to the point I will remember what to do next time and save more time by not having to go online. Many many thanks!

I had the same problem but fixed it slightly different. I turned the empty bucket upside down, removed the four pz2 screws. Lifted out gearing in one piece. Removed rust/debris from two month old bucket stainless steel shaft and sprayed with water dispersant liquid. Reassembled. May sound complicated but very easy and thorough job. Only about 10 minutes, screwdriver and lubricant spray.

Hi Jim Thanks for your idea. Next time I will go a bit deeper into it. My bucket was already full and ready to go. The few drops of oil got it going straight away.

Sometimes there is too much rust into the gearing.

I replace it with “Octagonal One Way Needle Roller Bearing HF081412 8*14*12mm Fit for EasyMop” found on EBAY (10=$8.90 !)

Like a new ! I takes 10’ !

What are the two little pins that dropped out when I removed the base

Gill travis - Ответить

Hi Gill. There are no pins in my Vileda. I removed the four screws from underneath (make sure the bucket is empty first) There are about five parts (plastic) and a chromed metal coil spring. The ends of the spring where they attach might break and look like little pins. Refit base / pedal unit and secure four screws. Pins you found are the ends of the spring or something left over from manufacturing .
