How to Replace the Pom Pom on a Beanie

Instead of tossing out the pom pom that fell off your favorite beanie (knit cap, toque, etc.), follow these easy steps to reattach it and make your beanie look as good as new.

This guide requires basic sewing. If you're a beginner or don't have a lot of sewing experience, it may take a little longer, but it's a good first project to give sewing a try.

    • Use sewing scissors to cut the string that attaches the pom pom to the beanie if it's still loosely attached.

    • Measure 10 inches of yarn.

    • Use your scissors to cut the yarn.

    • The point of the needle is sharp enough to pierce skin.

    • Push the needle through the pom pom, leaving a 3 inch tail of yarn.

    • Be aware of where the needle will exit and where your hand is holding the pom pom.

    • Keep button in place and remove the needle from the yarn.
