Follow this guide to cover a cracked or shattered smartphone display with packing tape prior to making repairs. This makes the screen easier to remove with a suction cup, as well as protects you from glass shards.

Lay overlapping strips of packing tape over the phone's display until the whole screen is covered.

If the broken glass makes it difficult to get a suction cup to stick to the screen, try folding a strong piece of tape (such as duct tape) into a handle to lift the display.

Wha.....WHY?! The screen will not work!
Hello server ghost, as noted in the introduction, we recommend taping over cracked glass to create a surface for a suction handle to hold onto as well as to prevent bodily harm during repairs.
