Having a small hole in your sweater is something that happens to everybody. Whether it’s been caught on something or accidentally torn, sewing it back up will make it look as good as new without having to replace it!

Ensure the hole is small enough to be easily repaired with sewing.

Thread the needle with a length of thread doubling it over at the end to secure it.

At a good length (depending on the size of the hole), cut off the excess and tie a knot at the end of the thread.

Position the sweater with the hole facing up on a flat surface. Make sure your sweater is inside out.

Insert the needle into the fabric slightly above the hole, pulling it through the backside of the sweater, and repeat this process along the edges of the hole to create a series of stitches.

Continue stitching back and forth across the hole in a zig-zag pattern until it is completely closed, ensuring stitches are tight and secure.

Tie off the thread by creating a small knot at the end of the stitching and trimming any excess thread with scissors.

Reverse your sweater outside in. Tug at the area slightly to ensure the stitches hold and the fabric remains intact.
