[* black] Speaker is held in place by welcoming and simple Phillips screws. Fairly simple and a good start for easy repairs!
[* black] Removing the speaker reveals an orange ~~lifebuoy~~ rubber gasket just [https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/VP4BE2cGikTdBXKi.full|as seen in the 12 &12 Pro|new_window=true]. Assumingly one of the reason why the water protection became better compared to last years line up.
[* black] Since the [guide|137669|taptic engine already shrunk down|stepid=274760|new_window=true] compared to last years line up, we didn't expect to find more drains in the 12 mini. Well, we were wrong;
[* black] The ~~tiny~~ taptic engine in the 12 mini measures:15.14 mm x 10.9 mm x 3.44 mm. This makes it 25% smaller compared to the taptic in the 12 and 12 pro. (0,56 cm^3 in the 12 mini, 0,75 cm^3 in the 12)
[* black] To even out the loss of volume the connector and socket got a whole lot bigger in the 12 mini.
[* black] We indicated before, that there ''might'' have been enough space for a headphone jack in the bottom end of the 12 and 12 Pro, the taptic engine and speaker fit a whole lot better in the narrow corset of the 12 mini.
