iFixit Joins Repair Café XL in Den Haag

A Day to Celebrate Repair and Community Spirit

This past Friday, iFixit had the pleasure of participating in the Repair Café XL event in Den Haag, Netherlands—an event that brought together hundreds of passionate repairers, fixers, and DIY enthusiasts to celebrate and promote the power of repair. The air was filled with the sound of tinkering, the buzz of community connection, and the spirit of fixing what’s broken.

Our presence at the event was more than just a booth—it was an opportunity to engage with the vibrant community that shares our passion for repair. Thomas Keulemans, iFixit’s Dutch Translator and Community Manager, was there and shared his experience from the day:

“It was niiiiiice! It went super well, people were very excited. There was an almost constant stream of people coming to the booth—some knew us already, and others didn’t, but everyone was eager to check out the tools we offer and dive into the details of repair.”

Real Repair Questions, Real Solutions

Thomas was met with a wide range of questions from the community:

“Is there a tool set that contains an oval bit?” Yes, we’ve got just the right kit for that

“I accidentally stripped a screw—is there something I can do about it?” Absolutely—you’ll find a guide on how to remove it on our platform!

These questions represent exactly what iFixit stands for: providing the right tools and knowledge to empower anyone to fix what’s broken. Whether it’s an odd tool request or a common repair challenge, our goal is always to make repair more accessible.

Connecting with Local Heroes of Repair

In addition to the many curious individuals who stopped by, the event provided a great chance to connect with local repair communities and organizations. One of the day’s highlights came when representatives from Repair Café The Hague, the largest Repair Café in the Netherlands, visited the booth.

The spirit of collaboration was strong, and while we didn’t get the chance to meet everyone, many of the invited groups are already making proof of how their in-person events and the sharing of knowledge on our platform can complement each other. Repair Cafés are a critical part of the repair ecosystem, and it’s always inspiring to see the impact they have in their communities. These groups help drive the repair movement forward by empowering people to fix their own devices, one repair at a time.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the event, it’s clear that Repair Café XL was a success for both the community and iFixit. It’s events like these that remind us why we do what we do: to empower individuals, bring people together, and keep the repair movement alive.

We’re already looking forward to our next opportunity to engage with the community this Saturday in Florence, Italy

Until then, keep fixing and keep sharing the repair love!
