The right fan of my trusty MBP 17" late 2007 did all at once an incredible noise that it was impossible to work. All activities especially applications using the graphic card raised the temperature and thus the noise. For diagnosis I went to my local reseller who told me that this MPB is a vintage model and there are no spare parts from Apple available any more. This was the moment I decided to do the repair myself.
The order was placed at iFixit and the delivery arrived at the time scheduled. Additionally to the exchange of the fan I decided to replace the thermal paste between heat pipe and logic board as well. The manual guided me through this difficult process successfully. With fingers crossed I powered the MBP and - everything worked as it did many yours ago: The temperature is in the normal range 40-70°C with a fan speed of about 2000rpm and no noise anymore!
I'm glad I replaced the vintage thermal paste as well following the really excellent guide for replacing the heat pipe. This was more than originally planned, however, I got an almost new MBP in turn.

Noisy fan and disassembling and lubricating did not fix it.
This was an easy repair to do but the new fan was noisy so I pulled the computer apart a second time, disassembled the fan itself, cleaned it as best I could, then reassembled fan and computer and now it is quiet and works well.
Dissemble new fan and check for dirt or casting flare before installation.

The fan was heading out and was really annoying to listen to

I used a couple of glasses to separate the screws. They are small so Torx and Philips are tough to discern
old fan was noisy and possibly in danger of quitting
Perfect-- took about half hour-- most time consuming part was all the little screws in the computer body. One small glitch was I did not have any fresh circuit board tape.
Don't know if your repair kit includes that yellow tape but it might be an idea.

My laptop began making unusual noises and I noticed one of the fans was running slow.
Easy! Just took it apart, cleaned everything out and put in the fan.
When you need to dust out your laptop, don't put a vacuum cleaner hose right up to the exhaust port so that it causes the fans to spin. This can shorten the lifespan of them by causing them to spin beyond their rated rpm. Just use a brush and some compressed air. If you vacuum, do it carefully.

my 17" late 2006 MacBook Pro was making an incredibly loud and angry sound. some basic diagnosis with compressed air revealed the problem to orginiate with the right fan. iFixit had the best part at the best price, and I love the screwdriver kit
flawlessly! easy peasy, took about 10 minutes.
pro tip: if you haven't taken your MBP apart before I recommend having a dish with compartments to keep the different size screws separate, and safe. I used a box of chocolates left over from valentine's day. also, buy a can of compressed air, because you may as well spray your MBP out good while you have it open.

The right fan in the laptop had been making a soft clicking noise on and off for some time. Recently it grew very loud so that you did not want to be in the same room with the machine.
The part from IFIXIT arrived very quickly and following the step by step guide made replacing the fan very easy. I did simplify things a bit by not disconnecting the trackpad and keyboard ribbon cable or the display data cable. In the first case I just stood the keyboard assembly up against the screen while replacing the fan. I was able to slip the old fan out and the new fan in under the display cable.
The only thing the guide did not address was the black tape along the top edge of the fan. I was able to peel this back to remove the fan and was surprised to see copper foil under the tape. After peeling it back the tape was no longer sticky and therefore does not adhere to the new fan. This does not seem to be a problem since everything is working fine but it would be helpful if the guide gave addressed this issue.

High temperatures, fan noise, fan rotation speed less than half wha it should have been
The repair guide was outstanding. Step by step, with associated pictures. Best guide of this type I've seen on the web or anywhere else).
The only problem I encountered was with shipping. My part appeared to sit in San Luis Obispo for over a week. I expected a certain amount of delay due to holidays, but this took much longer to get than anticipated. Watching the news I saw the reason for the delay - East - East coast truckers were having a tough time with snow and ice. Customer Service was always quick to respond to my concerns and was ready to airmail part if need be.

Right fan got very noisy
It went perfect, easy with Ifixit guidance, changed left fan in same operation + cleaned both cooling grills, both fans been running since 2007, a lot of hours and Rpms since 2007
Just do it, tool kit recommended was perfect, maybe a little more advice about disconnecting electrical plugs, with close up photos....
