All Apple Watch Series 3 models can be readily identified by the distinctive red dot on the Digital Crown. The GPS models are further identified by the model number visible when the band is removed, A1858 for the 38 mm and A1859 for the 42 mm.
The GPS Only models do not have wireless 3G capability and are not capable of being connected to the internet without being paired to an iPhone 5 or newer. GPS models include built-in GPS and GLONASS as well as a barometric altimeter and Siri support.
