Quite easy, to my surprise!

My iPhone battery was affected by the Apple battery update. I did not want to waste the time of sending my phone in to Apple for repair—plus I’m still a little ticked at them for messing millions of iPhone’s battery lives up. So I went with iFixit. My dad had used them but had some trouble removing the adhesive tabs from the old battery—so I was a little leery.

I’m so glad that I went with iFixit! I watched the replacement video and read through instructions before making my purchase. I kept the instructions pulled up on my son’s device during the replacement. I went slow and steady as I didn’t want to mess things up, therefore, it took me an hour to finish the replacement. Everything went off without a hitch. The instructions were detailed, correct, and to the point. I followed battery calibration instructions as well. So far so good, I haven’t had to charge my phone all day, whereas before I had to charge it several times a day. I had no trouble with the adhesive tab removal once I removed the vibrator (listed as an optional removal). I found it quite easy to remove and replace the battery—and quite fun as well!

Slow and steady, don’t get in a hurry! It worked very well for me to leave instructions pulled up on another device to follow step by step. I also recommend removing the vibrator to make it easier to remove the adhesive tabs from the old battery (this is listed as an optional step). When removing and replacing the screen, it was extremely helpful to follow the recommended use of an unopened soda can and rubber band to hold things in place—I placed a dish towel between the screen and can. Keep your screws labeled in some way as you remove them. Don’t waste your money on the suction cup tool—the suction cup that’s provided in the toolkit works well!
