I'm an American independent filmmaker based in Berlin, Germany. I'm not a very good tinkerer, but would like to become a better one with the help of the ifixit community. Thanks!
I have a 13” MacBookPro Retina Dual i5 2.7 Ghz computer with a 128 GB SSD drive and 8GB of RAM. Someone spilled a beer over the keyboard and it will no longer start up. Apple says the logic board needs replacing. Only then can the other parts be tested for potential damage. It’s no longer under warranty and it’s not insured. For the cost of the repairs, I can get a comparable used MBP. I need to get my data off the hard drive first. Can I remove it per the instructions above, hook it up by cable to my other Mac, and copy the files that way? My last Time Machine backup was unfortunately four weeks previous to the beer spill, and I need to access the newer files as well as the old ones. Any suggestions?
