Are you able to go into the BIOS settings? Many Asus notebooks got a feature called "Boot-Booster" which skips parts of the boot-process. Try to disable this feature (BIOS --> Boot --> Boot-Booster) and try to start the Asus recovery again.
I will recommand the Samsung EVO 850 Series (the Pro Series arent noticeable faster) and i have good experiences with Samsung SSDs, they offer a pretty nice price/performance relationship.
Is there any reaction when you try to start the computer? Which motherboard do you use? (Some motherboard got diagnostic Displays, LEDs, Power-LED diagnostic codes or beep-codes to tell you which part is broken) Some more informations would be nice.
