When I removed the pads, they separated from the double face tape adhering them to the screws. The tape stuck to the screws. I lifted the tape off with a utility knife and saved it. On reassembly, the tape would stick to the screws, but would not hold the pads. Still worthwhile putting the tape on the screws because it keeps adhesive from clogging the head of the screw. I cleaned the pads well (IPA or denatured alcohol will work). To get them to stick I put a minuscule dab on the screw and on the bottom of the pad.
Very good guide, great pictures. It took me 2 hours. I like to take pictures to help with reassembly if I need them and document each step as I go. Replacing the bumpers on the heat sink screws also slowed me down. I will put a comment in Step 8.
