When you make the finding yourself - even if you're the last person on Earth to see the light - you'll never forget it.
- Carl Sagan
I am a little person with big eyes for the world, intent on making it a little greener for our future.
I have received an AA in Social Sciences from Shasta Community College and a BA in Linguistics (emphasis on phonology and anthropology) from the University of California: Davis. I was a first generation who earned a full ride to university through programs like TRiO, EOP, and the support of my high school teachers. My lovely husband has also been a tremendous help on this journey, keeping me sane during the crazy.
In school, I had major roles in several clubs, such as Mock Trial, Psychology Club, Foreign Language Club, Theatre, Book Club, and Green Hornets (my school’s spin on an eco-friendly club).
I absolutely love astronomy! I’ve taken several classes and am an avid reader of (the late) Carl Sagan and Neil DeGrasse Tyson, amongst others. I am saving up to get a proper rig to start doing astrophotography, although I don’t mind watching the skies with just my little ape eyes.
I also enjoy reading fantasy or gothic horrors, like GRRM’s Game of Thrones or anything produced by (the late) H.P. Lovecraft. I love critiquing film, and my favorite director is either Mel Brooks or Clint Eastwood (I’m aware that last one is a little controversial, but if I wanted pretty cinematography I’d watch Taratino! Or Spike Lee, if he decides to try ;) ).
When I want to get out, I tend to cycle or go hiking. I have hiked every single trail in Whiskeytown National Park, twice! I even had my second date with my husband at one of the trails, although the Carr Fire in 2018 destroyed it.
