Replacing the SSD with this guide was a piece fo cake. Like a dum-dum, I forgot to make a bootable thumb drive of Mojave so I could time machine restore from my backup drive. Tried to restore using OS X.8.5 which obviously failed. Installed catalina via internet recovery and then created a thumb drive boot of mojave and booted from that and restored my mojave backup. Catalina breaks too many legacy apps I have that I can not afford to replace right now. Thanks, as always iFixit! You all rock!
Thanks for this guide, I now have working keyboard for this first time in years! Been bluetoothing a keyboard and finally had had enough. At first, i bought just the keyboard but after some research, realized I wan’t comfortable drilling out the 100+ rivets Apple put in there. Just transferred my trackpad (also an ifixit replacement from earlier), battery and all the internals with this step by step guide and it fired right back up. Extremely happy with this fix, almost like getting a new computer….. Almost. ;)
Thanks for this guide! Went a few steps further and replaced a broken trackpad as well. Was going to replace the keyboard but found out after buying it that it is insane to do with 101 rivets and then a need to find the 101 compatible screws, etc… Going to return the keyboard and keep bluetoothing one. After getting the battery and trackpad to function normally, I am not replacing the top case and doing all that work over again. I should have done more research before rushing to add the keyboard to my order without checking for a guide first. The trackpad was a little tricky without a guide; as the backplate is glued on but I got it off using the spudger and adhesive removal. After that, it’s a breeze to replace. My old battery (over 7 years now) was really swollen and my fans were full of 7 years of dust. They used to run constantly. Haven’t kicked on once yet and been back working all apps for an hour. Very satisfied with this repair!

Those three pesky little connections were my only source of frustration, but the guide was perfect, thank you!
Nice tip, thanks for the link to the new card. Just got mine and installed using the trusty fixit guide!
