Answer to "My playstation turns on, it beeps and the light appears then its off"Hi Kris. Does the Console have any notable history of drops or of water damage? Are the vents filled with particularly heavy deposits of dust? Any of these answers may point closer to a solution, but PS4 repair can be pretty open-ended if the cause is unknown. If you have hours, and I mean many hours of spare time and would like to troubleshoot this yourself, I recommend watching some of the PS4 YouTube videos by Andrew Paul. You will also need to get yourself a set of security torx screwdrivers to even begin any PS4 disassembly. It definitely is worth testing a new power supply on your console, if only because so few screws are required to swap the PSU and you don't have to take out the motherboard to get to it. The power supply is not *very likely* though. A dead power supply would mean no light and no beep. So in your case, it could be a failing power supply. Maybe you can purchase a new PSU from a seller with a good return policy… In my experience, consoles like yours usually have a complex motherboard...
Answer to "Unknown part (wire) in iPhone 5s"Vito, this wire is for the main cellular antenna. Without this cable, you phone will have 0-1 bars signal with your cellphone network. This part is unrelated to wifi, Bluetooth, or GPS. Have you broken the cable? If so, do not worry as a new cable will come preinstalled on any replacement charger port. The charger port flex PCB is only a $10 part. However if you have damaged the round plug on the motherboard where this cable attached, you will need to bring the phone to a local repair shop. This would require a skilled to solder on a new antenna port.
Answer to "Is there any way to fix these scratches?"The headlight solution that L Ptaff had suggested will potentially allow you to buff out the scratched plastic on your phone's narrow antenna lines. However the material on the flat back surface of your device is anodised aluminum. This is a silver metal with a very thin black top layer. Any heavy polishing is likely to strio the black color, revealing the lights bare metal underneath. However, at least if you try the pleasure polish alone, I doubt it would negatively ffect the anodised coat.
Answer to "Can I use the 240Gb from a MBA to speed up my Mac Mini"Hello ReindeR. Unfortunately what you wish is not possible, even with the use of adapters. The flash storage you plan to remove from your MacBook cannot be used as RAM for your Mac mini. While technically both “memory” the flash devices used for Storage or RAM will have different controllers and different connectors. The performance requirements for RAM are also much higher, which is why a 32MB RAM will cost far more than 128GB of flash storage.
Answer to "IOS 12.1.1 - Unable to use iPad - Activation Problem- iPad Model Prob."Hong, as Ben said, it is best to attempt a restore using 3U Tools. While 3U may also fail to restore your device, at least it will provide more information. Most likely, 3U tools is going tool fail somewhere around 80% when it is flashing the modem firmware. This is an indication that the modem hardware is faulty. Modem issues are responsible for many of the iTunes activation issues, though more often with iPhones. If it is a modem failure, they are among the most difficult motherboard repair jobs. You would need to find a local repair shop that is experienced in microsoldering. Apple may still be the better option at this point. Since Apple is helps to solve this issue, they would immediately give your a new iPad for your $400. The local shops will need days or weeks for an actual repair and $150-300 would be a fair price.
Answer to "Why my ds wont go green"Hello Myztaix. If your DS had not been turn on in years the battery is probaby in deep-discharge. This means the voltage is so low, your DS believes there is no battery installed. If it believes there is no battery, it will not attempt to charge the dead on that is installed. This same situation can happen to any and all portable electronics. Often the original battery can be recovered. First you need to remove the battery and find a universal battery charger suitable for 3.7v batteries. Many cellphone shops or camera shops will sell them for $5-15. A universal battery charger will clip to your battery and *probably* get it out of it's deep-discharge state. They tend to be slow, taking hours to fully charge a cell phone sized battery. Alternatively if you have a regulated DC power supply, you can set it to 4.5 or 5Volts and directly attach wires from your power supply to the battery terminals. Note that this method is *potentially very dangerous*. I would only use this option if the battery terminals are...
Answer to "charging port repair / replacement"Your LG Treasure charger port is absolutely repairable. However, this unfortunately is not a Do It Yourself job until you have significant experience with soldering. Additionally, even if you have-soldered larger electronics, cell phone PCB's requires a lot more care to prep before board rework so that you do not damage other components. A quick eBay search for “l52vl charger port" shows that it is easy to get yourself a new microUSB for around $5. For the amount of work involved $50 would probably be a fair price for repair from a local repair shop. Now neighborhoods with higher rent and shops with more experienced technicians and better tools may charge more money. I think $50 is an average price but in my neighborhood I would probably quote $60. Soldering work is one category where the quality you get is often what you pay for. But if someone quotes you $100 for this job they are trying to rip you off or they are outsourcing: mailing your phone to another shop for the repair. Please take the time to...
Answer to "How to disable performance management after replacing battery"Steve is correct. Replacing your aged oem battery with a new aftermarket battery that lacks the firmware to be read by iOS battery health still results in throttling getting turned off. Incompatible battery firmware is not an indicator that the battery is of poor quality. I use three battery suppliers and the one I trust the most sells me excellent batteries that still show in the settings menu as "third party, cannot read". If you have an aftermarket battery, plug your phone into the computer and download a free application called 3U Tools. 3U tools will be able to read the battery health and battery cycles on most aftermarket batteries. Independent shops have been using 3U Tools to check customers iPhone batteries for years. The iOS Battery health menu was only introduced 1 year ago. Really, the iOS many is redundant, and honestly, I still prefer to check every phone with 3U Tools. Note: some really cheap aftermarket batteries will permanently say 0 cycles and 100% lifetime even after you have been using...
Answer to "Phone loses its charge really quickly"Hello Carmela, has your phone's software been updated in the last year? If so then there will be a feature in the settings menu called battery health. This section will tell you the “battery lifetime" which will display as 1-100% battery condition compared to a brand new battery. Think of your battery as a gas tank, but a tank that gets smaller every time it's filled. At 80% lifetime, your “gas tank” holds only 80% of the fuel it did when it was brand new. Apple will recommend a new battery once the lifetime shows below 80%. In my experience, I think it's worth the time and money to change your battery if it shows as anything below 86%. 85% is the point where most of my customers start complaining about unsatisfactory performance. A local independent repair shop can replace your battery in under 30 minutes and a reputable shop should give you 3 months-1 year warranty on that battery. An Apple store can replace your battery in a few hours, if you made an appointment before going in. If you are comfortable...
Answer to "Dent on earpiece Speaker Grill"To Bryant's point, yes, any action here will make the phone less water resistant. Having never been disasembled, I would consider the above iPhone to be “decently water resistant.” As soon as the top assembly of the phone is popped of the metal frame, the adhesive between the two halves will stretch and tear, resulting in the phone being “ barely water resistant at all if immediately reassembled. This is why is good to replace the adhesive with a new gasket after completely stripping the old glue. If you really remove ALL the old adhesive residue from the frame and screen, use a new gasket that has no imperfections, avoid fingerprint oil contact on either side, and use a little heat/compression after closing, the phone can be made “decently water resistant” again. Precut glue strips for the frame are easy to find for a couple dollars. However, to replace the metal grill just behind the screen cover glass, several layers of adhered bariers in front of the speaker with near to be peaked away. I do not think...
