How does the Head Phone Jack connect?

I'm trying to replace my head phone jack and don't understand how it gets a signal, it is only connected by a single screw to the inside of the iPod. Is a headphone jack replacement as simple as taking the old one out by removing the one screw and putting the new one in. It has to connect some how to get a signal but I don't understand how. Please help.

Here's where you can get the part, it does have to be soldered to the motherboard::

Can you walk me through the soldering, I dont understand why I need to solder something when the old one wasnt soldered to anything? Nicksmacandpchelp, would you be able to tell me where the connection is on the logicboard and the connector on the jack is specifically so I can try to get that connection. I know I'm asking alot but am getting frustrated trying to get it to work again, didnt think it would be this complicated. thanks in advance
