Try putting the iPod into DFU Mode and see if iTunes will recognize and restore it. It will erase everything on the iPod, but you can restore a backup or just re sync your music and content.

Open itunes and plug the ipod into the computer. Then press and hold both the power and home button (ignoring the slide to power off) until the device shuts down. Then let go of the power button and keep holding the home button until the computer recognizes it and iTunes should pop up and say its found an iPod in recovery mode and it must be restored. The screen should be black on the iPod during this part. Then click restore and if there are no errors hopefully this will get it back up and running.

Hope this helps
