my daughters note book when putting in Sim card it is not recognized sometimes yes sometimes no.

Clear the Sim card slot and check every inner pin of SIM card slot is intact.

Or you can try to replace a new SIM&SD Card Slot Board Replacement Parts. It just cost you several dollars.

Oh. Sorry. You should manually choose the mobile carrier of your Sim card in setting at first.
