Screen replaced no longer works with Smart Cover

Hello Everyone,

I had a 3rd party repairman replace the cracked glass on my iPad Mini Retina. Looked great after he finished until I got home and was playing around with it and noticed the screen didn't go to sleep when closing the cover.

I did a little research and it appears that there may be some replacement parts which lack the ability to support this functionality after replacement.

Is there a reputable manufacturer for replacement parts that would keep this functionality? How do I check if a repair person is using the best parts available?

I intend on asking for a refund because this in my opinion is not repaired as the functionality is now lost.
