Basically did a full housing/screen and charging port rrepair for my friend and now the home button is hard to press and the touchscreen is unresponsive untill the phone is locked and then unlocked again then it works fine,any idea of how to solve this? Thanks in advance

If you never change any componants on the screen like home button not sure how the button suddenly became hard to press tho a flex change might sort it..
Check that the connectors are seeded correctly if they are and screen is still the same it's damage to the digatizer ..
You could always try a restore to rule that out
