Swap motherboard with A1226?

I bought a used Macbook Pro A1211 not realizing that not all Core 2 Duos can boot into 64 bit mode. I know that the next models, the A1226 can, and are nearly identical to the A1211. So I was thinking about getting a motherboard for an A1226 and swapping them, but I worry about problems with the few differences such as the display. Does anyone know if this would work?

Alternatively, I have been doing some more research and am now thinking a processor swap would be better if it will work. I have seen mentions of this being done in PCs, but they almost always need a BIOS update or something to make it work. Can this be done fairly easily in MacBooks? If so, how much newer can I go?

CPU's on 99% of all laptops, and 100% of Mac Laptops are soldered to the logic board. Not a DIY repair/replace.

A quick check of the parts catalog would show you that you can often swap logic boards within models (but not across years), and almost never across models. Holes, insulators and cables will not line up.
