ifixit has the repair guide for the Powerbook G4 12" here
you can also find the replacement parts on this site. I've replaced the optical drive on this same particular model and although it involves many steps, it's not overly difficult, IMO. good luck

Do it yourself? right here at iFixit has all the support : iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz Optical Drive Replacement
I have used the guide for many a tear down and repair!

in my answer below, I assume you mean the 12" Aluminum model, as shown on the right (not the G4 "Titanium" as you specify above)
