no display but playing music.

My neighbor split beer over his I pod a while ago and i saw it tonight and said ill see if i can get it working, it was months ago so expect it to have dried out properly, yeah. Now ive connected it to my docking station and its lit up as if recharging, after a few minutes and i have no idea how, ive managed to get the music playing but the screen even though it lights up when ya press buttons has not displayed anything at all.

So basically im just wanting some confirmation, if im right of course, from you guys that he has probably damaged whatever is used to display screen and if he has it's not worth fixing.
