First ensure the computer has power by booting it while it has the charging adapter plugged in. If problem persists, the computer might be set to display to external screen and not the internal screen. To revert this setting, press fn + f4 to have the computer display to the internal screen.

neither fn+F4 nor F4 had any apparent effect.
