Damaged sticky chamber on earpiece speaker M8

I change display and everything has perfect BUT earpiece speaker is backed by a plastic amplifying chamber, now I can not stick that chamber on motherboard because is "sticky sponge" is damaged.

Is it necessary? Can stick double-layer tape and be the same?
