Epson 1400 paper guide stuck

After putting in thicker paper in my Epson 1400, 2 of the paper guides seemed to have been sprung and are now stuck down and blocks paper and CD/DVD path. I tried to take off the cover to see if I could go in and reset the springs, but cannot seem to get into it. Any thoughts?
