What is sleep of death in sony xperia z1 compact

I hav replaced screen on z1 compact.it has now started to flash sony logo on screen then screen goes black unsure if it is on or off then red led flashes 3 times then another 3 times and screen still remains black or off.hav tried to charge battery in it and still nothing. Any help would be gratefully accepted
