Camera shuts down quickly after turned on, or when I touch controls?

When I turn on the P 712 it starts up, then unexpectedly quickly shuts down when I touch the controls, or try to take a photo. I can sometimes take a photo but it again shuts down, and I have to restart. Sometimes it won't even turn on. Erratic behavior.

Any suggestions? Battery seems fully charged Li-Ion.

Hi,

It may be that the battery is failing under load. If you can try another battery it may indicate whether there is a problem with the battery or not. Even rechargeable batteries have a life span

I provided percussive maintenance against the case of the camera and succeeded in resolving the looping problem. Now all I have is a dim picture problem. Which was an issue before.
