How do I turn on panel ligh?

My microwave (GE JVM3160RF2SS) works but I can't get the panel to light up and don't see a switch.

Any ideas?

I have the same problem and I have talked to numerous GE people and they have no solution to the problem. Their only response is basically that is the way it is. I'm not happy with their response. They should provide a solution.

Obviously, flawed design by the same person that fashioned the Titanic

Totally agree. Microwave looks nice and is running well BUT is extremely hard to operate when you can't see the display.

Panel display impossible to see . My last GE product.

Their stock price reflects the company downward spiral.

Can you please explain how to do this? The panel on my microwave has no “On” button except for “Timer On Off”

из

How & where did you add a button to light things up?

из

Was the number button solar so it lights up in the dark.

из

The model I purchased does not have an ON button. Has a Cook Time button.

What he means is to put some distinguishing mark on the button that controls the surface light (under microwave light) to make that easy to turn on and then the light from that aids in seeing the control panel. It is a good workaround to a very stupid design flaw on GE’s part.

There is no way to light the control panel, bad design. Well I discovered a way to light manually and in a way that provides Incredible light with 2 settings. Even better, the microwave’s looks as if the light is part of the appliance. see photo. Easy to do, cheap and battery run. Photos below. I’ll be happy to describe how I did if you want to know.
