Loose connection when opening lid
When open the lid , after it gets to about 45 degrees the screen flickers and goes blank, will come back on if lid moved down slightly

@gyropic sounds like a bad cable from the motherboard to the LCD. You'll have to take the laptop apart to verify this. Use these instructions to work on your Toshiba. Let us know what you find.
