iPod Classic PC293LL with 2.0.5 MAC firmware Battery Drain

I have an iPod Classic PC293LL with 2.0.5 MAC firmware. I just put a new battery in it I bough from here as the old one would not hold a charge for a day. After i got it installed, it seemed to work for a bit, but went dead overnight. I re-charged it again and it went dead sitting on my desk overnight. Are there some settings i need to turn off? I can hold it up to my ear and don't hear anything. After charging it yesterday, it sat from 11:45 AM to 5PM and was still full power (I was not playing music on it at the time). However, it still went dead overnight. How should I proceed?
