@thedean , Dean, Manual (link below)shows power button in right top corner when open. See manual below. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Just in case others arrive here from search, having the same question about a Dell Inspiron, 3168 model, the start button is on the right side of the laptop. See the attached image.
