Todd, that is usually a sign that there is a restriction in the sealed system or a leak in the sealed system. The only way to be sure is to tap into the sealed system and check the pressures. Only a certified registered a/c - refrigeration technician can do this due to the laws enforced by the state and EPA.

Did you ever get this figured out. Mine seems to be doing the same thing. The line into the evap coil and about a foot of the coil keep freezing, but the freezer cant even freeze ice.

Snorkeine1-this is a problem in your sealed system. You either have a restriction or a leak. The only way to be sure is to tap into the sealed system. This should be done by a certified refrigeration technician only. There are procedures that need to be done per the EPAs guidelines.

How much would that cost approx?
I'm ready to just move on to a new unit at this point. Sealed system sounds expensive.

Snorkelne1 - It depends a lot on where you live. In Texas where I’m at, the lowest labor cost I’ve heard is $350. The doesn’t include parts. Leaks could be anywhere but i see them mostly in the condenser. Condenser prices vary )$100-$200. You want an experienced technician to do the repairs. Consumers have a right to ask technicians to show them their credentials. They should carry their Certification, State registration and EPA cards with them.
