Replace the full unibody

Hello,

I´m wondering if you can help me on the following mater:

I own a Macbook Pro 15", 2.53, mid 2009 A1286, currently with a damaged hinge. The glass opens just a little bit everytime I close the shell.

Nonetheless it closes completely and, most importantly it works just fine.

However, I came across this used macbook and I dont know if it is fully compatible with mine.

Do you think it is possible to install my entire macbook on the used shell?

Are they the same on the inside? the screwwholes and all that?

Alternatively, do you thing I could just remove the screen + top shell and place it into mine? Will it fit?

Thank youuu

The hinges are replaceable! It's a lot less work replacing the hinges than swapping out parts between two systems.

The process is the same as replacing the display following this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody 2.53 GHz Mid 2009 Display Assembly Replacement. Once you get the display off you can slide the Clutch cover off to gain access to the hinge screws on the lid assembly. Then you can take them off. Make sure you use the correct sized bit and you may need some solvent to loosen the sealer. Sometimes I find a soldering Iron can heat up the screw to loosen the thread lock that some have.
