A baby monitor made by Infant Optics, Inc. The DXR-8 features a 3.5" screen , temperature sensor, night vision, and an interchangeable lens system.

NO Sound from One Camera But Second one works fine

I all of a sudden can't hear from one of my cameras. I have two paired with the monitor and I can hear the second one fine but can't hear the first one. Any thoughts? I tried blowing out the speaker cord on top of the camera to make sure there wasn't any dust in it and still nothing. At the highest level I can only hear static.

I just bought a second camera a week ago and it was working fine until I woke up to my daughter screaming and I didn’t hear it through the monitor. The second camera had sound when I went to sleep and lost sound at some point before she woke up 9 hours later. Camera 1 still had sound so I thought it was an issue with the new camera, but when I unplugged and plugged camera 2 back in the monitor only had sound for camera 2 and lost sound for camera 1. My son was sleeping so I couldn’t troubleshoot camera 1 until he woke up but when he did I turned it off and back on and it worked again. A few days later this happened again but I turned off camera 2 and back on and the monitor had sound for both cameras. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

So I had this issue as we have 2 cameras connected, on one the mic stopped. My wife said pushing the microphone cord in helped once. I took the camera apart to investigate when the issue persisted. It appears the speaker wires fray at the spot they were connected to the motherboard, there were soldered on the back side of the motherboard but one side was not and appears as you bend/move the microphone and even move/turn the camera it causes tension and stress on this connection causing the wire to fray and therefore the mic to fail. When I took it apart I was able to move the wires to get the speaker to work as a temp fix. I'm going to solder them here in the next couple weeks in that spot and see if that becomes a more permanent fix. For those who have curiosity or interest it's real easy to take apart and look at, pop off the rubber feet and there are 4 screws, that gives you all the access you need. I ended up popping off the plastic surrounding the mic and removing the antenna as well as the motor to move the camera in order to get a view on the back side of the motherboard. This shouldn't be necesary to fix. It appears it's a faulty design with a high stress point of contact that was never soldered to the motherboard board causing the mic wires to tug and pull and fray eventually losing the capabilty to work.

Hope this helps for those that come across this issue in the futuee and are curious about taking it apart to find the issue.

This worked for me! Thank you for the information.

Thanks for the detailed information. I'll try this when it fully fails.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this and all the details! I couldn't figure out how to get it apart so appreciate that you mentioned that, as well! Just taking it apart and moving the wires around a bit got it working again. Thank you!!

Similar this to me. My sons camera, the nearly 4 year old one just recently stopped picking up sound. My daughters, the newer one works fine. It happened once and the mic started working on camera one when I picked it up, but it did it again a few days ago and so far can’t get it to come back. Have unplugged it, wiggled mic, etc. haven’t done anything to second camera but will see if it makes a difference. I figured first camera was just getting old and mic was failing.

I have mine for about a month and the microphone has gone deaf. It still capture audio but you have to blow on it very hard and very close. Baby cry is not being captured at all.... I wonder if i got a bad unit, since it is very new and already presenting problems, which is very annoing because my wife is partially deaf.

@cityhawk Try my solution. I may open my unit up eventually to inspect, but pushing the mic into the body seems to have helped twice now.

This happened to a second camera. I got it to pick up again by pushing the mic into the body. I suppose maybe a connection is loose or faulty. Don’t have time to open it up now to check it out, but give that a try. This camera had the same problem before, and IIRC, I had to do something similar. Wiggling didn’t help mine at all. Hope this helps!
