Model ESP8XL coffee is luke warm and steam wand only produces water

Model ESP8XL - I realize this is a very old model,it was a wedding gift. because the coffee is luke-warmand the steam wand no longer produces steam. I am thinking a faulty heating element or a fuse is the reason for the lack of HOT espresso or steam coming our the steam wand. I would like to fix it if it is a simple solution.
