Dislpay has weird flickering strips

Just out of nowhere my system has on the internal display some weird strips. But works fine with external monitor.

Screenshoots are taken show no strips. If I move the screen a little downwards the stripes are gone and display is good, backlight is working.

PRAM & SMC reset didnt change anything.

Might be just a loose cable somewhere? How to fix it?

It was for repair half a year ago cause a broken touchbar. But now its out of warranty.

As the next repair shops is 2 hours drive from me I would love to find another solution.

I just had the exact same issue recently but my warranty has expired, were you able to get a rebate?

из

Nope. Paid around 500 Euro for new Display and they keep the old display.

%#*@ lol, freaking thieves

While it might appear that way there's a good reason they keep the parts! The parts are shipped back to Apple to be assessed on what the defect was. There is also the issue of disposal hopefully recycled if the part was not needed for review.

Yes, the price is high! Too high!

Apple has been moving for the last few years into throwaway 2-3k computers! While they may preach being good carbon players they are just merely moving the carbon cost to the customer! As we are now forced to buy anew Vs fixing the still usable system.

In this case which is a design defect! Apple needs to cover it under an extended warranty.

Just another case of kinked display cable, replace the entire top clamshell.

Thanks for the quick reply. Very appreciate it. Tried to find out what you mean with clamshell. You mean the whole uper part of the macbook , like the whole display?

из

Yeah the whole display unit has to be replaced because all cables are soldered together, you can't replace just the cable.

To add to Tom's answer: You need to go to either an Apple Store or authorized service center to get it repaired and hang onto your paperwork as I'm thinking Apple will be doing a rebate as this is a design failure.

Just a comment, but I have the same system and have had similar issues in the past. Definitely a design flaw. This is quite possibly the worst generation of MBPs I've seen. I do some 3d modeling... for fun and my old 2012 MBP can actually out-perform this system on almost every front. Praying Apple does the right thing and offers a rebate or some kind of trade-in.
