Dryer tripping the breaker

I have a whirlpool Cabrio dryer. The dryer works great, except that it keeps tripping the breaker with less than 5 minutes left in the cycle. Does not seem to matter if it’s a 40 minute cycle, or 55 minute cycle. Every time it does it, I reset the breaker at the breaker box, press and hold the start/pause button for the 5 seconds to reset the PF (power failure) code and every time there is less than 5 minutes left in the cycle. 2 minutes, 3 minutes, 4 minutes……..What could be causing my dryer to trip the breaker with about the same time remaining……starts as 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 minute cycle…..always does it with under 5 minutes left.

Try running the dryer on air fluff for a 40 minute cycle, if it runs through the whole cycle without tripping the breaker your problem is most likely with the heating element sagging and just touching the housing causing a short and tripping the breaker when it gets hot enough to sag and touch the housing when in use for 40,45,50 or 55 minutes. After cooling element will shrink and short circuit is now gone and dryer will run normally.
