The Kia Optima is a mid-size car produced by Kia Motors beginning in 2000 and marketed globally with various names. Firsts-generation cars (2001-2005) were generally sold as the Optima, though the name Kia Magentis was used in Europe and Canada when sales in those regions began in 2002.

The key needs to be turned 3 times before car will start?

My 2004 Optima will not start unless the key is turned 3 times. I cleaned battery terminals but problem still exists.

I suspect that your car is trying to tell you that somethings wrong. How are your dash warning lights doing after it starts up? I'd take it to Auto Zone and get a free diagnostic readout of your cars computer to see if it will tell you what's wrong.
