Whirlpool Dishwasher starts after keeping the door pressed manually.

Hi, I have an Ikea whirlpool dishwasher. It had a free fall door because hinge string was broken which I replaced. Now, it starts when I keep the door pressed manually. It runs for sometime even if I stop pressing the door but stops after sometime. If I presss the door again then it starts again but stops after sometime if I stop pressing the door. I already open the door and checked all the wires and everything is connected. I also cleaned the area for clogging and anything stopping the close the door properly. Could it be door latch or something else need to be replaced?

I need your model number to be able to locate parts.

Hi Mayer, Thanks for your reply. It's integrated whirlpool from Ikea. I can't see actual model details. It has service no. as 854586701001 and serial no. as 990740072630.

See if you still have the operators manual, iy will have the model number. I can't find the correct parts without it.

it sounds like the latch is not working like it should , when you close it the latch on the shell not the door is not pushing in the switch to turn it on , check it out ans it should have an adjustment , screws or a screw to adjust let me know

I can't see any screw for the adjustment of the latch.

Thanks gadget1961, you were spot on. There was some misalignment between latch and the door tilt lock. I happened perhaps when the door spring-thread was broken (which I had replaced earlier). I opened everything and checked carefully and set it back and everything is working as normal :) . Thanks a ton to give new hope !!
