Screen flickering - backlight bulb OR inverter board?

Hi there,

using an old (but well going) Powerbook G4 Alu 15" 1.33GHz.

Recently, the screen started to flicker, some weeks after it had started to be pinkish for a moment after each wake. All is fine when connected to an external monitor.

I would guess from the other descriptions here it is the inverter board OR the backlight bulp. As for the pink phenomenon probably the latter is the culprit.

Now my question - if getting a display assembly that would include the backlight bulp, but what if the inverter board on top is affected. Is this usually (?) coming along with the display assembly ? (As to ifixit Apple Part #: 661-3055).

Thanks for the advice!

Cheers,

jorg

Does the picture change when the display is moved up and down?

Initially I thought so - but did not help a second time ... :-(

Thus, flickering stayed, irrespective of screen position.

I mean, it flickers irrespective up to which angle one opens up the display/screen.

Defective CCFL backlight may have the following symptoms: Screen flashes on red/pink and goes off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of its life.

Here's my previous post on this with links on repairing the CCFLs: CCFL Backlight Repair and Information
