Problem with the HDMI output, tried resetting video output.

I bought a used Ps3 Model CechL** 80 Gb, a year ago.

I tested the console before I bought it and everything seemed to be working.

However, after ariving at home and turning it on for the first time, I noticed the HDMI wasn't working. The component cables worked just fine and I've been using the ps3 via component ever since.

So far, I've tired:

Resetting video output by holding power button when turning on the ps3.

I've replaced the HDMI controller chip on the motherboard

I tested continuity to all the HDMI pins back to the motherboard, they’re fine.

I should mention that it did work before and after the chip replacement for a short while, but it was random. While it worked, it would switch between white noisy/static background and then back to the video, this happened for awhile until it completely stopped working again.

What's odd is that my monitor normally, by design, doesn't show the white noisy background when there isn't any signal.

Hi,

Does your monitor work OK with other HDMI devices connected to the HDMI port, you didn't say?

Have you proved that the monitor is OK by testing the PS3 on another monitor e.g. a TV and you are getting the same problem.

Just eliminating things ;-)

@jayeff

Yes, I've checked it on my living room T.V

Both my T.V and Monitor work just fine with other HDMI sources but not with PS3.

Edit:

I've also tried hooking it to a conver
