theoretically if I wanted to replace an iPhone 8 home button could I use another iPhone’s home button and logic board?

It costs as much as the whole phone, then you still lose TrueTone and battery health, preserving those would require swapping the battery and the screen over, so it’s literally the whole phone.
So you could, but you wouldn’t.
