How to reset "absorber full error" on the G3200?

The ink absorber pads saturated. I’ve replaced them. How to get the the “Ink absorber full” error reset, on the G3200 megatank model?

This worked for my Canon Pixma G3200 after Error: 5B00 appeared and I was no longer able to print. All I have to do now is replace the ink absorber pads which are saturated. I wanted to be sure I could get the printer working before ordering and replacing the pads. You just saved me $250 for a new printer. Thank you very, very much.

The first thing I printed was this page with its solutions!

Credit to “u/Deadtobealive” on Reddit . . . here’s my “edited for clarity” version of his post after getting my 5B00 error cleared followed by getting the black ink to run through the tubes again without bubbles (March 2022) on my Canon G3200 printer:

Start by putting the printer into service mode:

==================================

(Service mode)

-- Turn Printer Off

-- Press and HOLD the Stop button (red Triangle - keep holding until release *)

-- Press and HOLD Power button (keep holding until release *)

-*- Release the Stop Button

-- Press the stop button 5 times

-*- Release the Power button

==================================

(Waste Ink Counter WIC Tank Reset clearing error code 5B00)

-- While in service mode

-- Press the Stop button 5 times

-- Press the Power Button once

-- -- wait -- for it to reset followed by a single page to run through the printer --

-- Press the Stop button 3 times

-- Press the Power Button once

-- -- wait -- for it to reset followed by a single page to run through the printer --

-- Turn off the printer

-- Turn the printer back on & the 5B00 code should be cleared

==================================

(Air Bubbles in Ink Tubing)

-- Turn on the printer (normal startup)

-- Press and hold the stop button for about 5 seconds: watch for 5 flashes and then release

-- -- the printer will run through an extended cycle, use a lot of ink & dump a lot into the waste ink tank

Oh my god I think this has worked!! THANK YOU

Ty, it worked... Pulled out the spung and had ink running into empty water bottle during cycle. But it printed afterwards.

Thank you Bat Man! I will know who to call in the future!. This worked for my G3200 after spending so much time looking around for a solution that Canon should be providing themselves. What's the point of having "megatanks" if they still try to force you to throw away a perfectly good printer just because the ink pads get full!!

I just worked this on a G3501 printer (after changing the ink pads) and in section two it didn't print anything off on both occasions, but I ignored this and carried on with the instructions, after it powered back on the amber light had gone and was able to resume printing. This was after days of trying different things, thank you BatMan for listing this out. :-) This was an easy fix to do and it's shocking Canon are not enabling customers to service their products instead of encouraging them to throw them away.

How to reset page counter for ink absorber full (error 5B00)?)

Try jayeff’s solution. It’s for a different canon model but you’ll get the jist of it.

I found this solution: https://resetkey.net/the-best-way-to-fix...

Step 1: Put printer into SERVICE MODE

Step 2: Reset waste ink counter.

Step 3: Clean the ink absorber pads

Maybe you can try.

Good luck!
